I first met April during my brothers wedding about 4 years back. When my fiancé and I were planning our wedding on Long Island, she was the first person I thought of to officiate the wedding. We contacted her and since we live in Maryland, she was very accommodating to our schedule and she was able to meet with us when we were available. She asked us questions about our past in order to get to know us, and on the day of our wedding I felt like we’d known her for many years, like she was an old friend. She provided us with multiple options for the ceremony itself and walked us through them all, how to choose what sounded like us, and was accommodating to the readings we chose friends to read, as well as helped guide us through our own vow writing. She speaks elegantly and clearly, and guests thought the ceremony and the officiant were beautiful. They couldn’t believe something as simple as how well they could hear! Which to me seemed odd but many people have said they’ve been to outdoor ceremonies (which ours was) where they couldn’t hear.
She helped guide us through some of the details of getting married, like the whole wedding license detail, and now she has helped guide me through the name change process.
April was responsive to every email and phone call, and of all things, my fiancé and I did not worry for a second about whether or not the ceremony would run smoothly. We even nixed a rehearsal, and she managed to help our whole bridal party through it without a test run.
I would recommend her to anyone looking for a wedding officiant, she traveled quite a while to get to our venue at Martha Clara Vineyards, she was early, organized, and great at communicating the days before and day of.
We continue to hear how much our guests loved our ceremony, maybe even more so than the open bar! And we attribute the ceremony’s success much in part to Officiant April.
