The Officiants at Church of Ancient Ways

Churches and Chapels

If you’re looking for the charm or sacredness of a church but would like to have your ceremony your way, you might consider renting a church or chapel for your wedding day. This is just a small list of places we’ve officiated that welcome people from all backgrounds and belief systems.

  • Bating Hollow Congregational Church

This church is now one of Georgio’s house vendors. It’s a great little building that comes with or without a minister. I have found “Congregational” Churches more willing to rent space to couples as they are self supporting.

  • Huntington Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

This looks like a castle from the outside but inside is modern. There are UUF’s all over Long Island and, to the best of my knowledge, all will rent space.

  • Islip Grange – Sayville

This is a “Little House on the Prairie” Style chapel in the Islip restoration village. Very small, seats 60, very cute, and very inexpensive. Booking is done through the Cultural Affairs Office of the Islip Department of Parks and Recreation. At last check, the fee is $275.00 for non – Islip residents, $225.00 for Islip residents. $100 of that is refunded if they don’t have to hire anyone to clean up after you.

  • Mill Neck Manor Chapel

Mill Neck Manor, located on the prestigious North Shore of Long Island, is a majestic Tudor Revival mansion set on an 86-acre scenic estate overlooking the Long Island Sound. The mansion, once called Sefton Manor, was owned by Robert Leftwich Dodge and his wife, the cosmetics heiress Lillian Sefton Dodge. The chapel within, dedicated in the 1950s is open to the community for weddings and special events. Call 516-628-4239 or visit millneckmanorhouse.org.

  • Old Whaler’s Church – Sag Harbor

What a great old church! 44 Union Street, Sag Harbor. It holds 600 guests, the fee is reasonable, and if you were not thinking of a big reception they have a room downstairs that can also be rented.

An absolutely beautiful church. Wooden pews, stained glass windows, oriental rug runner, are just some of the attributes of this location. If a “church” is what you are looking for in Westchester this one is well worth a look see.

  • St. Johnland Chapel – Kings Park

St. Johnland Chapel sits on the property of St. Johnland Rehabilitation Center – This is a Great Church Building in a park like setting. If you are having a problem finding a location and you want a church – go see this venue. They don’t host too many weddings and it is sometimes hard to find someone for information but it IS worth the effort.
